Our founder Karagan recently posted this super easy and yummy Cold Brew S’moo Coffee but we are going to jazz it up a little! Are you ready?
First let’s start with her recipe:
Perfect S’moo Cold Brew Coffee:
- Homemade Cold Brew (8 Oz)
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Tablespoon Agave Nectar
- 1 scoop Chocolate S’moo
- 3 Ice Cubes
Blend & enjoy!
In order to get the S’moo to mix in really well, you can use a shaker cup but it does mix better blended with ice.
So how fancy do you want to get? You have a few options instead of your Agave Nectar you can create your own infused simple syrups.
What you’ll need:
- Pot
- Measuring Cups/ Spoons
- Whisk Storage Container/ Glass Jars
- Your flavor – Vanilla Extract, Herbs like Lavender, Fruit, Cinnamon Sticks, or Ginger
You don’t have to be a barista or crazy mixologist to make your own syrups and once they are done, pop them in the fridge and use them at your leisure. Simple Syrups are equal parts water to sugar (or in this case a low carb sweetener of your choice). Though I don’t use all the different types of sweeteners with a little research it seems Monk Fruit, Xylitol, Allulose, Erythritol, Stevia all work for creating simply syrups without crystalizing in the fridge when stored as long as you have the correct ratio.
Without the proper ratio, some of these can crystalize when stored in the fridge, to avoid this you just need to make sure you use the proper ratio.
Recommenced Amounts Based on Your Sugar Supplement:
- For Stevia you’ll add about 2 TBSP per cup of water.
- Allulose and Xylitol are a 1 to 1 ratio normally so 1 cup sweeter to 1 cup water.
- 1 to 3 ratio for Monk Fruit or Erythritol which would be a 1/2 cup Monk Fruit or Erythritol to 1 1/2 cups water because otherwise these two will crystalize in the fridge (Note: this is because a lot of store bought Monk Fruit has Erythritol as a base).
Now all you need to do is put the sugar, water and your chosen flavor in a pot and let it simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let sit until room temperature before adding your liquid creation to jars and placing them in the fridge. I like to keep my added element (like lavender flowers) in the jars to really let those flavors take root.
You’re done! Just add it to your coffee instead of your agave nectar.
